Sun Fairies

She sat on the window seat looking at the rain bucket down outside her house. Ivy didn’t like this weather….it made her remind of things that she didn’t want to. She checked her wide screened Macintosh PC sitting right in the middle of her room. ‘Should she mail him?’ her thoughts seemed to be wrestling each other and she seemed caught in between. Funny how Ivy thought herself to be that of a separate entity from her thoughts. But at this time, only that conclusion seemed appropriate. She migrated from her position to the bed and laid down there staring at the roof. ‘Why me?’ was the only question that was in her mind now.

She decided to take a stroll in the woods that surrounded the back of her house. She stepped out in the pouring rain, catching a strong scent of green leaves and earth. Ivy walked through the thick shrubs and leaves that were strewn all across the forest floor. She kept walking, drenched from head to foot. But the chilly wind or the icy water lapping at her skin had no effect on Ivy.

She came to a small lake hidden by low lying bushes. Ivy loved to come to this mysterious lake when she was younger, and watch the sun dance on the water. This lake always managed to calm rebellious thoughts or confusion when she watched it. She sat on it’s banks and today the water seemed disturbed by the icy cold pellets of water firing themselves into the water.

She sat there….the clocked ticked….5 minutes…10 minutes……..

Ivy sat up straight. Something swept past her! She looked around her eyes a bit blur and the vision hazy. She blinked several times in an attempt to take control of what was happening around her. The sun shone directly on her eyes and she shielded herself from the sun’s powerful rays. Again something seemed to sweep past her…her soft brown curls danced around. The breeze seemed to have woken her up. The lake glistened as she stared at it. It was working it’s magic….or should she say…it had already worked it’s magic. She stood up dusting dirt off her t-shirt and shorts. They were soiled from the rain and the sand. But it didn’t matter anymore to Ivy, she knew exactly what she should do.

She raced back to her room and started hammering away at her computer’s keypad. She looked up to see her work. Yes, it was perfect. She hit the send button and waited till the computer took it’s time to deliver the mail she had typed. It was about to change her life…….forever.
